Prior to the immunization of children aged 5 to 11 years old, parental agreement for pediatric vaccination will be an “absolute need.”

According to Presidential Adviser on Covid-19 Response, Secretary Vince Dizon, no kid will be vaccinated against Covid-19 unless their parents or guardians approve.

“They are unable to do so, unfortunately (be vaccinated). It is up to their parents to decide whether or not to vaccinate their children “In an interview with a news program, Dizon stated.

Dizon added that the administration is also prepared for probable side effects from immunization.

“The only problem for the younger age group is dealing with probable bad effects as well as logistics because the Pfizer doses are different from the doses we use for the older age group of 12 and up,” he explained.

Dizon told attendees at the immunization session at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City that all vaccines are safe and effective, and that the Philippine Pediatric Society has endorsed them.

“In the United States, the same vaccine that we use now for our children is used. There were no side effects in nearly 9 million youngsters aged 5 to 11 who received the immunization “Dizon explained.
