On Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,652 new recoveries and 3,788 new infections from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of active cases to 91,147.

There are 3,261 asymptomatic cases, 83,145 mild cases, 2,986 moderate cases, 1,443 severe cases, and 312 critical cases among the active patients.

On the other hand, 72 more fatalities brought the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 54,854.

Since the pandemic began in 2020, the Philippines has registered 3,484,636 recoveries out of 3,630,637 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Based on the 32,795 people tested on February 9, the positivity percentage is 14.7 percent.

In a press conference, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the country’s new cases are continuing to “steadily diminish.”

Except for Soccsksargen, all regions are at low to moderate danger, according to Vergeire, while national health system capacity is also at low risk.

At least 34% of the 4,300 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, as well as 33% of the 20,300 isolation beds and 30% of the 15,300 ward beds, are dedicated to Covid-19 patients across the country.

In Metro Manila, 24 percent of the 1,700 ICU beds are occupied, as are 29 percent of the 4,200 isolation and ward beds.

Vergeire noted during the same press conference that the government is continuing to prepare for the inevitable move of some areas to Alert Level 1, which she compares to the “new normal” setup.
