Limited F2F sessions may be resumed in 20 schools in the Ilocos Region.

SAN FERNANDO CITY. As the alert status is downgraded to Level 2, the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Ilocos Region announced 19 public schools and one private school in the region may resume restricted face-to-face (F2F) sessions starting February 16.

Cesar Bucsit, chief of the DepEd Ilocos Region Public Affairs Unit, said these schools are in Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and Ilocos Norte in a phone conversation on Tuesday.

“The pupils who are participating are in kindergarten through third grade since these age groups still require constant teacher supervision and their numbers are still limited,” he explained.

He noted that the schools have passed the various safety inspections done by the Department of Education and the Department of Health.

More schools in the region will begin restricted F2F lessons in the third week of this month, according to Bucsit, though an official memorandum has not yet been posted.

Tolentino Aquino, regional director of the Department of Education in Ilocos, stated in a statement that they are striving to secure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.
