MANILA, Philippines — According to the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, at least 65 percent of 12- to 17-year-olds have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccination.

According to NTF Chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., nearly 3 million children under the age of 18 have yet to get immunized.

“Kailangan na rin po nating hanapin at hikayatin pa ang 3 milyon na hindi pa po nababakunahan (We still need to hunt for and encourage the other three million who are unvaccinated),” Galvez said in his Monday night report to President Rodrigo Duterte.

Galvez said the government is waiting for reports on administering additional dosages to children in the 12-17 age bracket before providing booster vaccinations.

“Naghihintay po tayo sa advise ng ating mga eksperto at tingnan po natin kung marami na pong bansa ang nagboo-booster,” Galvez added.

For the mentioned age category, the government now employs Pfizer Covid-19’s original formulation.

As of February 16, the country had received a total of 224,823,360 Covid-19 vaccine doses, both procured and donated.

The amount does not include the 293,670 Pfizer doses delivered Monday night by the Australian government through the United Nations Children’s Fund.
