MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday that roadworks along Edsa and a motorcade along important highways in Quezon City will take place during the weekend.

The MMDA said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will reblock and repair Edsa Northbound near the Quirino Highway Exit, Edsa – Caloocan Southbound in front of Biglang Awa St. (4th lane from the sidewalk), and the innermost lane of Edsa – Northbound from E. Rodriguez St. to C. Jose St. in Pasay City, according to a traffic advisory.

“Motorists are urged to use other lanes,” the MMDA stated.

The roadwork will begin at 11 p.m. on Friday, and all affected routes will be “completely passable” by 5 a.m. on Monday, according to the statement.

A motorcade or caravan, on the other hand, will take place in Quezon City on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The motorcade will travel through Quezon Memorial Circle, East Ave., Edsa, Cubao, Aurora Blvd., Rizal St., Quirino Memorial Medical Center, P. Tuazon, to Cubao, then left at Aurora Blvd., Mt. Carmel Church, E. Rodriguez, St. Lukes, National Children’s Hospital, Damayang Lagi, Delos Santos Hospital, Banawe St., to Philippine Orthopedic Center, D. Tuazon, Quezon

The MMDA stated that “the intended route is subject to the approval of the local government unit where the motorcade/caravan would be held.”

It further recommended motorists to “prevent disruption” by avoiding the region by taking alternate routes.
