MANILA, Philippines — On Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,671 new cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 (Covid-19).

According to the DOH’s latest Covid-19 tracking, the number of new cases recorded on Friday is somewhat fewer than the 1,745 new cases reported on Thursday.

This is the seventh consecutive day with fewer than 2,000 new cases, with the country’s lowest daily case total of the year at 1,019 on February 22.

The DOH also announced 1,586 new Covid-19 recoveries, down from 2,045 on Thursday, bringing the country’s total to 3,547,528 confirmed cases, or 97 percent of 3,658,892 total verified cases.

Active cases now total 55,140, accounting for 1.5 percent of all verified cases.

About 91.8 percent of current patients have minimal symptoms or are asymptomatic.

There are 49,988 instances with mild symptoms, 2,784 cases with moderate symptoms, 1,424 cases with severe symptoms, 645 asymptomatic cases, and 299 cases in critical condition.

It announced 59 more deaths, bringing the overall number of confirmed cases in the country to 56,224, or 1.54% of all cases.

According to the most recent testing data, 28,039 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Wednesday, with a 5.6 percent positivity rate.

The country’s health-care utilization rate is now low, with around 3,800 intensive care unit (ICU) beds occupied at 28 percent, 20,400 isolation beds occupied at 24 percent, 14,300 ward beds occupied at 17 percent, and 15 percent of 3,100 ventilators in use.

There are 1,300 ICU beds with a 27 percent occupancy rate, 4,600 isolation beds with a 23 percent occupancy rate, 4,000 ward beds with a 25 percent occupancy rate, and 17 percent of 1,000 ventilators in use in the National Capital Region alone.
