MANILA, Philippines — According to Department of Health (DOH) data, the country had 1,223 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases and 2,400 more recoveries on Saturday.

The number of active cases is 53,934, down from 55,140 the day before, while the number of recovered cases is 3,549,735.

The Department of Health also recorded 128 more deaths, bringing the total to 56,351.

Since the epidemic began two years ago, the country has had 3,660,020 verified Covid-19 cases, with 1.5 percent getting treatment, 97 percent recovering, and 1.54 percent dying.

According to the Department of Health, 48,842 of the active cases are mild, 597 are asymptomatic, 2,780 are moderate, 1,417 are severe, and 298 are critical.

Based on the 26,631 people who were tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) on February 24, the positivity rate is 5.3 percent.

On that day, all laboratories were open, however, four of them failed to send data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data from the previous 14 days, the concerned laboratories provided at least 2.6 percent of samples tested and 0.8 percent of positive persons.

Coronavirus patients occupy 27% of 3,800 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 22% of 20,400 isolation beds, and 16% of 14,300 ward beds across the country.

At least 26% of the 1,300 ICU beds in Metro Manila are in use, including 24% of the 4,600 isolation beds and 24% of the 4,000 ward beds designated to Covid-19 patients.
