MANILA, Philippines – A world at peace is a world in prayer.

On Sunday, Rev. Fr. Carlos Reyes of the Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Mandaluyong City issued a clarion plea to the faithful all over the world to pray, particularly the Holy Rosary, for an end to Russia’s raging Ukraine war.

According to Reyes, prayer has the potential to halt the war before it becomes a larger conflict that spreads to other countries.

He recounted how World War I broke out in 1914, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians caught in the crossfire.

On May 13, 1917, the Blessed Mother appeared in Fatima, Portugal, to three children, Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco, and told them to recite the Rosary to bring the war to a conclusion.

Reyes emphasized that the message of Fatima is still relevant today and in the future.

“Pray, pray, pray the Holy Rosary every day for an end to the Ukraine war and for God’s blessing on the entire world to achieve a genuine and permanent peace,” he added.

Several European countries have decided to provide guns and ammunition to Ukraine, according to the Anadolu news agency on Sunday.

Machine guns, sniper rifles, and ammunition will be sent from the Czech Republic; 50 German-made anti-tank weapons will be sent from the Netherlands; and military equipment, 2,000 automatic rifles, and 3,800 tons of fuel will be sent from Belgium.

More than 150,000 Ukrainian migrants have gone into neighboring countries such as Poland, Hungary, Moldova, and Romania, according to UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
