Face-to-face (F2F) lessons for pilot schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been postponed until the alert level is reduced to Level 2 on Sunday, according to the Department of Education.

The Department of Education said in a statement issued late Sunday that its decision to suspend classes is in line with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ recent memorandum for the Alert Level 3 protocols, citing the significant increase in coronavirus cases in the NCR.

“Face-to-face lessons in pilot schools in regions under Alert Levels 1 and 2 shall continue in the meantime that DepEd completes its report on the pilot face-to-face classes,” the DepEd said, adding that it met with mayors from the NCR to discuss the suspension of in-person classes.

Following an increase in coronavirus infections, the alert level status in NCR was upgraded again from Level 2 to Level 3 from January 3 to 15.

On January 2, the Philippines added 4,600 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,851,931.
