MANILA, Philippines — Joey Concepcion, the President’s Adviser for Entrepreneurship, has advised that the country’s Alert Level 1 status be maintained, particularly in Metro Manila and other key locations, to mitigate the effects of the global economic downturn brought on by the crisis between Ukraine and Russia.

In a statement released Monday, Concepcion claimed that improved mobility and keeping all economic activity accessible will help boost GDP and keep firms afloat.

“We can’t halt Europe’s conflict,” he continued, “but we can assist the country to prepare for a crisis.” “We live in a consumer-driven economy.” Mobility is essential to us.”

The Ukraine-Russia situation, according to Concepcion, who is also the creator of Go Negosyo, has hampered the flow of raw commodities in the worldwide market and driven up the price of petroleum and wheat.

He went on to say that MSMEs, which are still recuperating from the pandemic’s effects, will be hurt the hardest by the increasing commodity prices brought on by the Ukraine-Russia issue.

“Maintaining the Philippines’ Alert Level 1 status till the end of the year has become more critical,” Concepcion added. “Schools and workplaces have a tremendous multiplier effect in boosting economic activity, especially with MSMEs like cafeterias, retail shops, and transportation,” says the report.

Concepcion stressed the importance of continuing to administer the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination and booster shots in order to maintain Alert Level 1.

“We need to maintain vaccinating, boostering, and controlling our Covid indications.” If our Covid numbers rise again, our mobility will be limited, and the advances we’ve made thus far will be undone,” he warned.
