
The death toll from the ‘Odette’ disaster has risen to 407, according to the NDRRMC.
The death toll from Typhoon Odette, which wreaked havoc on the Visayas and Mindanao in December, has risen to 407, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Only 75 of these deaths have been confirmed so far, according to the NDRRMC’s situation report, and 332 are being validated.
It also reported a total of 1,147 injured people, of whom only 74 have been confirmed so far, and a total of 78 missing people, of whom only nine have been validated.
Agriculture damage has also risen to PHP7.68 billion in ten regions: Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Regions 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, and Caraga, according to the agency.
In Mimaropa, Regions 7, 8, 10, 12, Caraga, and BARMM, infrastructure damage was estimated to be at PHP16.9 billion.
In addition, Typhoon Odette caused severe damage to homes in ten districts along her route, with 582,626 homes being partially or completely destroyed.
