MANILA, Philippines — On Monday, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) chastised presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo for lying about a pact with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

Lorraine Marie Badoy, NTF-ELCAC Spokesperson for Sectoral Concerns and Communications Undersecretary, made the comment after Robredo refuted reports linking her and her volunteers to the CPP-NPA-NDF on Sunday.

Badoy said Robredo’s side should cease rejecting the pact, noting that Jose Maria “Joma” Sison, the founder of the CPP, has officially endorsed her candidacy via Twitter.

In a statement, she added, “VP Leni Robredo’s team should quit insulting the Filipino people’s intelligence by pretending they haven’t struck a covenant with the devil, the communist terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF.”

Robredo was also sponsored by the Makabayan Bloc, which she termed as “urban operatives of the CPP-NPA-NDF.”

“The Central Committee of the CPP-NPA-NDF has endorsed Leni Robredo, an organization that has been designated a terrorist organization by the Anti-Terrorism Council and has also been declared a terrorist organization by the Philippines, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, the European Union, Australia, and Canada,” she added.

According to Badoy, Robredo has forged a “tactical relationship” with communist terrorists that benefits “both of them.”

“And anything that helps this terrorist organization means greater agony and misery for Filipinos,” she added.

Badoy claimed that during Robredo’s March 4 campaign rally in Cavite, the Vice President shared the stage with communist “operatives.”

She noted that Robredo retracted her calls for the NTF-ELCAC to be abolished and used the word “redtagging” to “suppress” individuals who speak out against communist fronts.

If Robredo is elected president, Badoy claims she has vowed to begin what she calls “bogus” peace talks.

“We regret to inform people who have placed their trust in the Vice President that she has misled us all,” Badoy stated.

She claims that the only way for Robredo to “redeem” herself is for her to publicly denounce the CPP-NPA-NDF and all of their atrocities, as well as work with the NTF-ELCAC.

Robredo should likewise ask the Makabayan Bloc to do the same, according to her.

“As a result, we eagerly await the Vice President’s public condemnation of the CPP-NPA-NDF, as well as her open invitation to the KABAG to do the same.” Otherwise, we will be justified in concluding that she is unworthy of our trust and that she loves the few votes that the CPP-NPA-NDF believe they can provide her far more than our lives, the lives of our children, and the fate of our country,” she stated.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said he got intelligence information regarding purported “groupings” of opposition members and communist rebels planning to disrupt the May 2022 elections in an interview on SMNI on Saturday.

The “blatant” and “continuous” red-tagging of Robredo’s campaign, according to his spokesperson, Barry Gutierrez, is a “new low,” with opposing candidates attempting to damper the Vice President’s campaign’s vigor.

Marco Valbuena, a CPP spokesman, also denied that the CPP had discussed forming a coalition government with Robredo or other presidential candidates.

The United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines have all designated the CPP-NPA as a terrorist group.

The National Democratic Front was officially legally labeled as a terrorist organization by the Anti-Terrorism Council on June 23, 2021, identifying it as “an integral and inseparable part” of the CPP-NPA, which was founded in April 1973.
