Lacson and Sotto pledge to duplicate the campaign known as ‘People’s Day’
MANILA – Partido Reporma presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and running mate Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III will replicate the “People’s Day” initiative in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, where government agencies go to the people to deliver services rather than the other way around.
Lacson stated during their Tuesday sortie in the city that they will promote Mayor Jefferson Soriano’s initiative wherever they go.
“Nakaganda, naka-innovative ang kanyang concept. Every aspect of the pangangailangan ng mga tao is nariyan. Mayor Soriano dinala ang gobyerno sa mga tao sa halip na ang tao pupunta sa gobyerno. All essential services are provided to the populace); “Lacson stated during his address to the consultative conference of sector representatives.
Sotto concurred with Lacson, stating that they have personally witnessed the mayor’s initiative’s effectiveness.
Representatives from line agencies such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Public Attorney’s Office, the Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) visit barangays twice a week to deliver services under the “People’s Day” program.
Lacson observed that this would save inhabitants time, money, and effort by eliminating the need to rise early and take a tricycle or jeep into the city proper to access government services.
The standard-bearer of the Partido Reporma stated that this is one of the alternatives he and Sotto discover during their talks with the populace. He stated that the Lacson-Sotto tandem will continue to communicate with citizens, particularly in remote places, in order to find “difficult solutions” to the country’s “serious problems.”
“Thus, yan ang aming matagal na pinag-aralan para sa ganoon sa pakikipagugnayan natin sa tao sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Pilipinas, alam natin more or less kung ano ang solution. Difficult challenges necessitate the application of severe solutions by forceful leaders. Kami yan ni Senate President Tito Sotto (Senate President Sotto and I have been seeking solutions to the country’s challenges, and we gain knowledge whenever we consult. Difficult challenges necessitate the application of severe solutions by forceful leaders. And Senate President Sotto and I both have a reputation for being difficult leaders); “Lacson explained.
