MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) urged hotels and lodging companies in areas with Alert levels 1, 2, and 3 to allow guests from different homes to share rooms.

“The hotels are also allowed full room occupancy, regardless of whether the leisure visitors are from the same home or not,” according to a statement released by the Department of Transportation on Thursday.

Housekeeping, food deliveries, and other room services must be permitted as well.

As the ban eases, the tourism department underlined that passengers should be provided with seamless accommodations.

“The Department encourages all stakeholders to follow the standards for an enjoyable and seamless travel experience,” it continued, “, particularly with the anticipated surge of passengers who seek to enjoy the summer season in the Philippines.”

DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat told Teleradyo that about 100,000 tourists have visited the nation since the borders reopened, with the figure anticipated to rise in April.

The National Capital Region and more than 40 other places are currently on the lowest alert level, which means case transmission is low and declining, and bed and intensive care unit utilization rates are low.
