MANILA, Philippines — At the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong City, Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar paid a goodwill visit to authorities and former colleagues.

On his official Facebook page, Andanar posted images of his reunion with former coworkers. On Tuesday, the courtesy visit took place.

“Couldn’t help but feel sentimental seeing my former colleagues at TV5, where I spent the majority of my media career,” he captioned.

Andanar said he got the opportunity to catch up with President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Robert Galang and News5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes, among other officials and colleagues, in his “Ask Me Anything, Anywhere” episode, which aired on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

He expressed his gratitude for their “warm welcome,” saying that TV5 has always been his “home.”

“Kailan lang ay ako’y sumali sa gobyerno (It wasn’t long ago that I entered government) back in 2016,” she said. Ngayon (Now), I only have three months left in government; salamat sa pagwelcome sa’kin (and thank you for welcoming me) and thank you for providing me with a place to call home,” he continued.

Andanar stated in October 2021 that after President Rodrigo Duterte leaves office in June 2022, he intends to return to private media.

Because of his expertise and knowledge in launching reforms in the state media, he expressed confidence that he will return as a “wiser” private media personality.

“Yes, babalik ako sa media (I will return to the [private] media) armed with vigor and wiser, more knowledge, and experience sa pag-reform sa (in government reform) and the advocacy of sustainable communication.” What is the definition of long-term communication? It’s about being able to communicate and support all of the community’s, country’s, and even world’s sustainable programs and activities,” he explained.

Andanar was asked to choose between the country’s biggest TV stations, namely Kapamilya (ABS-CBN), Kapuso (GMA), Kapatid (TV5), and Kapamella (AMBS), in a PolitikoTV Channel interview on March 9. He chose the Kapatid channel.

He also stated that he had no aspirations to work for former Senator Manny Villar’s television station.

In 2016, Duterte selected Andanar as the PCOO chief, and in March 2022, he was named acting presidential spokesperson.

He worked as a television news anchor, radio commentator, podcaster, video and audio blogger, and voice-over artist prior to his appointment.

He was also in charge of News5 Everywhere, TV5’s internet news video and audio service.
