MANILA, Philippines — According to the city government, just one out of 21 communities in San Juan City had active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections as of Monday.

According to the most recent data from the local government, there have been a total of 21,257 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 20,892 people recovering from the sickness and 363 people dying.

Mayor Francis Zamora said in a social media post that the city’s active cases had reached 1,927 at the time when infections soared owing to the advent of the Omicron Covid-19 strain in the country.

The active cases, according to Zamora, have been reduced to only two because of residents’ tight adherence to public minimum health regulations and the local government’s enormous immunization program.

The two patients, he claimed, were from Barangay Salapan.

He recommended those who had not been inoculated get the Covid-19 vaccination.

For the first time in two years, San Juan City celebrated its 115th establishment anniversary on Sunday, after two years of quarantine restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In numerous villages, the city conducts house-to-house Covid-19 booster injection vaccinations.

The local administration in Pasig City urged citizens not to be complacent despite the drop in active cases across Metro Manila.

In a social media post, the Pasig City Public Information Office said, “We urge everyone to stay attentive and mindful of respecting the basic public health standards at all times.”

There are still 20 current cases in Pasig.

It is currently administering booster doses to eligible vaccinees in vulnerable groups such as senior folks and those with comorbidities on a house-to-house basis.
