MANILA, Philippines — According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, the Philippines is one of the Asean countries with the lowest number of daily new confirmed Covid-19 cases.
As of March 28, the Philippines had only 3.45 new illnesses per 1 million people, according to Duque’s presentation to President Rodrigo Duterte.
The Philippines is followed by Cambodia (3.61 instances), Myanmar (4.52 cases), and Indonesia (17.82 cases).
According to data from Our World in Data, Brunei has the most infections (1,968.79); Vietnam has 1,724.56; Singapore has 1,295.34; Malaysia has 615.65; Thailand has 360.67; and Laos has 293.52.

China has the fewest cases in Asia, with only 1.3 cases per 1 million people.
Due to the spread of the more transmissible Omicron subvariant, BA.2, Covid-19 cases continue to rise in the region.
When the Omicron variety arrived in December 2021, the Philippines’ instances surged in January.
The country saw 2,651 new cases from March 23 to 29, a decrease from the previous week’s 3,319 illnesses.
The daily average number of cases is 378.
There was only one instance added to the list of severe and critical cases.
The cumulative case fatality rate in the United States remained low at 1.61 percent, with a 97.3 percent recovery rate.
According to the seven-day moving average, laboratories across the country can test 21,875 people per day, and the positivity percentage fell to 2% this week from 2.5 percent last week.
Only 17.5 percent of non-intensive care unit (ICU) beds are used in the healthcare utilization rate, whereas 14.5 percent of ICU beds are used.
Severe and critical admissions account for 11.6 percent of all hospital admissions, or 752 of the 6,509 total.
