BARMM educators are being pressed to receive training in human brotherhood for peace.
MANILA, Philippines โ The month-long peace conversations, capability enhancement sessions, and education workshops were completed by 71 Bangsamoro teachers in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and its surrounding areas to effectively communicate the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together.”
The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) said in a social media post on Friday afternoon that the recently concluded training was part of its efforts to promote the document to educators from various learning institutions such as madaris (Islamic schools) and Catholic schools in BARMM and its surrounding areas.
The government aims to help develop strategies and implement insights into raising Bangsamoro youngsters with ethical and moral values, according to OPAPRU-Social Healing and Peace-building Department (SHAPED) Director Vanessa Pallarco.
“We hope that our educators will assist us in championing the ideas of the Document on Human Fraternity and, ideally, instilling them in the hearts and minds of our people,” she said.
Pope Francis and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb signed the Document on Human Brotherhood on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi, to emphasize the “need for a sense of fraternity among all men and women of goodwill” worldwide.
In addition to promoting justice and peace, the signed declaration protects human rights and religious freedom.
The signing was generally praised as a watershed moment, not only for Christian-Muslim ties but also as a “blueprint” for future relations “of harmonizing the culture of interfaith conversation and collaboration
The declaration also acts as a call to cease conflicts everywhere in the world, as well as denounce insurrection, terrorism, and violence, particularly those motivated by religious beliefs.
“It’s a text that’s been given honest and thoughtful consideration in order to become a joint declaration of decent and heartfelt objectives. “It is a document that invites all persons who believe in God and human fraternity to unite and work together so that it may serve as a guide for future generations to advance a culture of mutual respect in recognition of the great divine grace that makes all human beings brothers and sisters,” the document’s preface stated.
The OPAPRU has teamed with the Ateneo de Davao University’s Madaris Volunteer Program to promote module training dubbed “The Document on Human Fraternity for Our Schools: Training and Module Roll-out for Bangsamoro Teachers” from February 21 to March 26, 2022, in support of this global purpose.
