MANILA, Philippines — From Holy Tuesday to Good Friday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will lift its Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), often known as number coding, allowing all private vehicles to drive through the National Capital Region (NCR).

The suspension of number coding on Tuesday, according to MMDA Chair Romando Artes in an interview at the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), will allow the public to go earlier and avoid high traffic, especially on Thursday and Friday, which are both common holidays.

“On Tuesday and Wednesday, we’re suspending the number coding scheme to give the public unrestricted mobility by allowing them to travel to the provinces in their own vehicles,” Artes added.

He added that, as part of the MMDA’s “Oplan Metro Alalay Semana Santa 2022,” a total of 2,861 employees have been deployed on important roadways, transportation hubs, and strategic areas in the NCR to cope with the flood of vehicle traffic.

“During Holy Week, we want to make sure that motorists and commuters have a safe and convenient way to get around.” Passengers are beginning to crowd the terminal, as we have observed. PITX currently has 100,000 daily commuters, according to Artes.

He urged residents to phone the MMDA’s Metrobase Hotline 136 for traffic updates, road assistance, and access to the MMDA Road Emergency Group in the event of a road emergency.
