MANILA, Philippines — Next week, a business team from South Korea will visit Davao City to explore opportunities and grow its presence in the Philippines’ southern region.

The Korean Embassy in the Philippines announced on Wednesday that Ambassador Kim In-Chul will conduct a business mission to Mindanao from April 25 to 27.

High-ranking officials from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), as well as executives from South Korean firms, make up the delegation.

At least eight South Korean companies are expected to participate in the business trip, according to the Korean Embassy.

The embassy noted that these enterprises have a presence in Luzon and Visayas and would like to explore business potential in Mindanao.

On April 26, the group will gather for a one-day business-to-business meeting at the Acacia Hotel in Davao City.

“This visit is expected to give an opportunity for leading Korean enterprises to form collaborations with local entrepreneurs and investigate potential commercial opportunities in Mindanao,” Kim added.

The Korean government has been involved in development cooperation projects in Mindanao, including the Laguindingan Airport, the Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center in Davao, and the ongoing Panguil Bay Bridge building, according to the envoy.

According to him, the Korean government is promoting Mindanao as a potential investment location for Korean companies looking to develop in the Philippines.
