The NCRPO will step up its operations against unlawful gambling.
MANILA – Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, Chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), ordered the five police districts to step up their efforts to combat illegal gaming in their jurisdictions on Tuesday.
This is in response to reports that some illicit gaming operations, such as the “Peryahan ng Bayan,” are still going strong.
Natividad also told the Manila Police District (MPD), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Northern Police District (NPD), Southern Police District (SPD), and Eastern Police District (EPD) to follow the “no-take policy” when it comes to illicit gambling.
“Team NCRPO will continue to enforce its existing policies and campaign against illegal gambling, including unlawful numbers game activities.” The no-take policy from illicit gaming and other unlawful sources will likewise be strictly enforced. “Any commanders on the ground who disobey this order will face severe consequences,” Natividad said in a statement to the media on Tuesday.
According to records from the NCRPO’s illicit gambling campaign, a total of 123 operations were carried out between May 1 and May 15, 2022.
Operations against illegal numbers games, video karera/fruit games, and other kinds of illegal gambling resulted in the arrest of 370 people and the seizure of 107,455 gambling goods and equipment.
Natividad has urged the five districts of the NCRPO’s Police Community Precinct Commanders, Sub-station Commanders, Chiefs of Police, and District Directors to strengthen programs and campaigns against all forms of illegal gambling, as well as fortify current police leaders’ sense of responsibility in reinvigorating their efforts in addressing unlawful gambling operations within their jurisdiction.
“Kailangang panatilihin natin ang ating hanay na di masangkot dito, upang masawata ang ganitong iligal na gawain.” Bantayan natin yung ating mga tao at palagi natin silang paalalahanan na huwag ng subukin o magtangka pang masangkot sa anumang uri ng iligal na gawain sa anumang uri ng iligal na gawain sa anumang uri Maging modelo tayo sa ating mga nasasakupan, gayundin kayong mga opisyal at namumuno. To stop such illicit acts, we must keep our ranks clean of maayos, tama, and discipline. Let us always keep an eye on our people and remind them not to get involved in any unlawful activity. Let us, along with you officers and leaders, be role models for the public. As I always say, let’s simply work hard and take discipline seriously),” Natividad remarked.
Meanwhile, Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano have urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) and local government units (LGUs) to keep an eye on whether the “Peryahan ng Bayan” is still active in their areas and to step up their campaign against the illegal numbers game.
“The operation of Peryahan ng Bayan (PnB) is still halted, thus I direct the PNP to continue its effort to suppress all forms of illicit gaming, including PnB,” Ano said in a statement on Monday.
