No PCOO involvement in Malacanang’s website suspension: exec
MANILA – An official from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) indicated Wednesday that the temporary suspension of Malacanang’s official website, which is currently undergoing content upgrades, is unrelated to the PCOO.
The website was managed by the now-defunct Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) until it was given over to the Office of the President, according to Michel Kristian Ablan, acting deputy presidential spokesperson and Communications undersecretary (OP).
President Rodrigo R. Duterte disbanded the PCDSPO in Executive Order No. 111 to streamline operations.
“Hindi po kasi kami yung subject matter expert doon po sa (We are not subject matter experts on) malacanang.gov.ph because it contains historical information and data, and that’s why we transferred it back because the PCDSPO was disbanded,” Ablan said in a Teleradyo interview.
The Presidential Museum and Library (PML) announced on its official Facebook page on Monday that the website is temporarily unavailable due to content upgrades.
“Please be advised that, contrary to reports to the contrary, the website malacanang.gov.ph has been suspended pending the completion of efforts to update the material and improve security features,” the PML announced on its official Facebook page.
All historical records are likewise intact, according to the PML.
“Relax, the contents of the aforementioned website have not been tampered with and will be made available to the public as soon as feasible.” “Thank you,” it continued.
The PML is responsible for maintaining, managing, and promoting the Philippine presidency’s history and heritage.
Former Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Undersecretary Manolo Quezon III and some internet users had expressed concern that the website had become inaccessible just days after presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. won the presidential election on May 9.
