Duterte appoints two new CA judges.
MANILA – Malacanang stated Thursday that President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed two new Associate Justices of the Court of Appeals (CA).
Duterte has chosen John Lee Zurbito and Eleuterio Larisma Bathan as two new justices of the CA, according to acting presidential spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
In a press statement, Andanar remarked, “The Palace congratulates Mr. John Zurbito Lee and Mr. Eleuterio Larisma Bathan on their appointment as Associate Justices of the Court of Appeals.”
“We wish both Associate Justices the best of luck, and we have every confidence that they will administer justice with fairness, impartiality, and integrity,” he continued.
Associate Justice Dorothy Gonzaga, who left in November 2021, will be replaced by Lee.
Bathan will succeed Associate Justice Japar Dimaampo, who was elevated to the Supreme Court as an Associate Justice.
