PRRD calls on the future administration to construct more world-class sports facilities.

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte urged the new administration on Friday to undertake infrastructure projects that would help Filipino athletes enhance their abilities and talents.

Duterte stated his hope that the next administration will support the facility and other similar facilities during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) in Bagac, Bataan.

“As my time draws to a close, it is my hope that the next administration will continue and complete this initiative, as well as explore other comparable projects that will benefit our athletes in the years ahead,” he said.

The PSTC, which is expected to be finished in 2025, will serve the demands of national athletes.

Administrative offices, medical and sports science facilities, and player and coach dormitories will be included.

The Bataan provincial government gave 250,000 square meters of land for the sports complex’s construction.

Duterte expressed confidence in the PSTC’s ability to develop more world-class athletes who will represent the Philippines in international events and help the country’s sports industry thrive.

“Moving forward, I am encouraged to know that, once completed, the state-of-the-art and highly scientific sports complex will be critical not only in honing the skills and talents of our athletes, coaches, and referees, but also in boosting their morale as they compete locally and, hopefully, globally,” Duterte said.

He also extended his gratitude to the Philippine Sports Commission and others who worked on the PSTC’s development.

The project, according to Duterte, will have a “great impact on the future of our athletes and the Filipino youth as a whole.”

“I congratulate everyone involved in this fantastic project, which will serve as the future home and key training facility for our country’s sportsmen. I’d like to acknowledge the Bataan province government’s contribution and goodwill in donating 250,000 square meters of land here in Bagac for the development of the PSTC “he stated

The PSTC was established by Republic Act 11214, which was signed by President Duterte in February 2019. Its mission is to “promote and develop sports in the country, to achieve excellence in international sports competitions, to ensure success in the country’s quest for Olympic competitiveness, and to promote international amity among nations.”
