Singapore and PH signed a partnership on data harmonization and cooperation.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on digital cooperation between the two countries.
Ivan John Uy, secretary of DICT, stated in a media release on Friday that the government is prepared to accept foreign investment as a result of developments in digitization and the incorporation of e-governance.
As the DICT is presently working to establish common digital and data standards that must be in place throughout the government, signing the MOU is particularly timely, according to Uy.
He continued by saying that “data harmonization” is used by the DICT to ensure interoperability amongst various pertinent agencies and organizations.
To create the essential data for a single government strategy in terms of citizen-centric services, we consolidate data by implementing an Application Programming Interface. The official said that the government site is currently operational, and improvements are ongoing to enhance government transactions.
The DICT will “aggressively strengthen” connections across the nation’s more than 7,000 islands, according to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive. It will solidify its place as the following “hyper-scale” hub in Asia.
He emphasized the launch of PLDT’s subsea Jupiter cable system, which expanded the nation’s international capacity from 20 terabits per second (Tbps) to 60 Tbps, as well as other recent advancements in the nation’s telecommunications infrastructure.
“Where else can you work with that level of connectivity? Wearing your beach attire and sipping pia colada beside a coconut tree. That setting is, in my opinion, the ideal one for work. He said, “Welcome to the Philippines.
The two nations decided to work together in digital connection, scam calls and texts, personal data protection, emerging technologies, digital government, and cybersecurity during Marcos’ state visit to Singapore from September 6 to 7.
This involves ratifying and promoting exchanges in personal data protection and trusted cross-border data flow by signing an MOU between Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission and the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
