With increased mobility, the return of in-person instruction, and the relaxation of the face mask requirement, coronavirus cases are predicted to grow, an infectious disease specialist predicted on Monday.

Dr. Rontgene Solante claimed the country’s enhanced population is low in a televised public briefing.

More than 18.7 million people had already received their first booster dose as of September 14, and over 2.6 million had received their second.

Solante pointed out that booster dosages would offer further defense against the extremely contagious Omicron BA.5 subvariant, the most prevalent coronavirus variant in the world.

Solante emphasized the significance of using face masks among the elderly, the immunocompromised, and persons with comorbidities, given the low number of enhanced individuals.
