The 16 regional DILG offices are now all ISO-certified.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has received certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001: 2015 for compliance with quality management system requirements at each of its 16 regional offices.

Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. said in a statement on Wednesday that the department’s commitment to consistently raising the standard for quality services to local government units (LGUs) and the communities is demonstrated by the ISO certification being granted to regional offices (RO).

“The central and regional offices of the DILG have put in a lot of effort to synchronize their QMSs (Quality Management Systems). Being matino, mahusay, at maaasahang kagawaran (an orderly, superb, and reliable department), this milestone is a welcome acknowledgment of the department’s unrivaled adherence to our quality policy and client satisfaction, Abalos stated.

According to the ISO certificate of registration granted to the DILG, it runs a management system that has been determined to be compliant with the ISO 9001: 2015 certification for the following scope of activities: public administration, which includes policy formulation, the provision of technical and administrative services, performance oversight, and rewards and incentives.

These regional offices include Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4 (Calabarzon), Region 4 (Mimaropa), Region 5 (Bicol), Region 6 (Western Visayas), Region 7 (Central Visayas), Region 8 (Eastern Visayas), Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), Region 11 (Davao region), Region 12

We are eager to offer the ISO certification to our provincial and field offices now that the alignment of all 16 ROs is complete. According to Abalos, this will guarantee that the DILG’s quality processes and plans are recorded and coordinated with those at the central office.

The ISO certification attests to compliance with the standardization and quality assurance standards of a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation method.

An independent, non-governmental organization called ISO creates international standards to guarantee the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of goods, services, and systems.

Abalos praised the process owners, all central and regional employees of the DILG, and Assistant Secretary Ester Aldana, the department’s overall deputy quality management representative, for ensuring that the department retains its ISO certification and complies with international quality standards.

By Executive Order 605, which mandates that all government offices implement QMS, the central office of the DILG established its QMS in 2015. This institutionalization of government structures, mechanisms, and standards will ensure the quality of systems and processes in government operations.

For its 80 QMS enrolled processes, the DILG subsequently achieved its first ISO certification in 2016 and its ISO 9001: 2015 accreditation in 2019.

Since then, the DILG has spread the ISO standards’ best practices throughout all of its regional and central offices.

The Office of Project Development Services, National Barangay Operations Office, Bureau of Local Government Development, Bureau of Local Government Supervision, Administrative Service, Information Systems and Technology Management Service, Financial and Management Service, Internal Audit Service, Legal and Legislative Liaison Service, Planning Service, Public Affairs and Communication Service, and Project Management Offices are a few of the central office’s certified sites.
