According to a Comelec official who spoke on the subject on Monday, there may be other plebiscites held throughout the rest of this year.

The success of the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), according to Commissioner Aimee Ferolino, will determine whether the initiative proceeds.

We might move an upcoming plebiscite early. We’ve already planned a few for January. Suppose the BSKE is put off. Let’s try to do one or two plebiscites in December, the polling organization official stated during a press conference.

She pointed out that the BSKE’s postponement affords them multiple opportunities to hold plebiscites this year.

On January 14, the municipality of Baliwag in the Bulacan province will vote to become a component city of the province.

Just President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. needs to sign the measure to delay the BSKE for it to become law.

After being signed into law, the village and youth elections will be relocated to the final Monday in October 2023.

The election board has successfully conducted four plebiscites in recent months, including one on August 20 in a barangay in Abel, Saranggani, and plebiscites on September 3 and 17 in Calaca, Batangas, and Maguindanao, respectively.

The most recent vote took place on October 8 in Ormoc City.
