30K underprivileged employees in Davao receive government assistance from July to September.

According to a study released Tuesday by the lawmaker’s office, at least 30,000 underprivileged employees have benefited from different projects and initiatives that Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte created or oversaw during his first three months in office.

According to the office, during the third quarter of this year, 5,799 drivers of public utility vehicles and 8,160 fishermen in this city received assistance in applying for emergency employment through the Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker (TUPAD) program after being thoroughly screened (DOLE).

The lawmaker’s office further stated that it has worked with DOLE to provide 923 street sellers TUPAD privileges.

“To ensure that only individuals who deserve the program’s benefits are given them, we extensively profiled the TUPAD candidates. Thousands of other candidates are still being screened, Duterte added in a statement.

Depending on the type of work to be done, TUPAD is a community-based package of support that offers temporary employment for displaced employees, the underemployed, and seasonal workers for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 30 days.

While another 207 people received free training programs from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) over the same period this year, Duterte’s office also gave scholarships and educational aid to 802 students.

Additionally, it facilitated the hospitalization and provision of medical care to 4,532 people at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), especially the elderly poor residents of Davao.

Additionally, 8,929 recipients who needed medical aid for treatment in private hospitals received it from June through September.

During that time, 28 orphanages and facilities for the elderly received 1,514 food packets and 102 wheelchairs from Duterte and his team.

Duterte donated five patient transport vans in collaboration with Eric Yap, a representative for Benguet, to help the citizens of Davao City’s first district receive better medical care.

Nine structures are currently being built to meet the requirements of the people of Davao City, according to Duterte.

There are also Lamayan Bayan buildings for Dabawenyos. They cannot afford to pay for funeral services for their deceased loved ones or evacuation centers and multi-facilities buildings.

Additionally, 1,737 individuals who passed away had their funeral costs covered by Duterte’s office.
