GCG will assess the effects of the premium hike suspension on PhilHealth
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has been directed by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) to provide information on the implications and impacts of the raised suspension on its financials and operations.
The requested information would be utilized as an additional reference in the assessment of PhilHealth’s performance as a government-owned and managed enterprise, according to GCG chairperson Alex Quiroz.
The Governance Commission works to guarantee that the GOCC Sector, in this case, PhilHealth, is fully compliant with the President’s directions as part of its commitment to align with the administration’s transparency strategy, Quiroz said in a statement.
PhilHealth was instructed to postpone the planned increases to its premium rate from 4 percent to 4.5 percent and the income ceiling from 80,000 to 90,000 PHP in accordance with Section 10 of Republic Act No. 11223, according to a document signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin (Universal Health Care Act).
While Quiroz noted the GCG retains its relationship with the GOCCs to achieve and pursue the National Development Plan of the Marcos administration, the GCG is unwavering in its mandate to monitor and evaluate the performance and operations of the GOCCs.
He mentioned that this year, following the system’s installation, the GCG will begin revising the Compensation and Position Classification System.
In order to effectively address the issues that the GOCCs and other stakeholders have raised with us going ahead, Quiroz stated, “we will continue to engage and collaborate with them.”
The supervisory body also improves its Integrated Corporate Reporting System (ICRS), a web platform that allows GOCCs to submit financial and non-financial reports online for public viewing.
