In Agusan Sur, DAR delivers CLOAs and P11.5-M projects to ARBs.
In a ceremony held on Friday in Trento, Agusan del Sur, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) presented certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to 563 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).
Jamil Amatonding, director of DAR-Agusan del Sur and concurrent provincial agrarian reform officer, said in an interview on Saturday that the office also handed over projects valued at a total of PHP11,550,000 to ARBOs at the ceremony.
The projects include a farm-to-market road (FMR) in Poblacion Trento that cost PHP6.02 million and connected the rice processing complex of our ARBs and ARBOs to the national highway, according to Amatonding.
He mentioned that the DAR’s Project ConVERGE provided funding for the 0.6 km FMR.
Convergence on Value Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment is what Project ConVERGE stands for.
The FMR will directly help about 400 ARBs who use the town’s rice processing center’s services.
“The government prioritizes the farmers who provide the food we need, through the DAR, under the direction of Secretary Conrado Estrella III and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. According to Amatonding, our farmers are leading the charge to safeguard the nation’s food security and sufficiency.
In addition, 15 ARBOs from four towns in the province received a forklift worth PHP1.09 million and a variety of farm equipment, including a tractor, a combine harvester, and farm inputs, a total worth PHP4.44 million.
A combined harvester for rice and corn worth PHP2.04 million was given to the Lumad sa Agdawan Multi-Purpose Farmers’ Cooperative (Lampufaco) in La Paz.
Ronel Laspinas, the chairman of Lampufaco, expressed gratitude to the government for its assistance.
“Thank you, DAR, for your ongoing assistance to the farmers and ARBs. We will benefit from this equipment, especially during harvests, according to Laspinas.
The Field Operations Office’s DAR Undersecretary Kazel Celeste, the Mindanao Affairs Office’s Undersecretary Amihilda Sangcopan, the Support Services Office’s Undersecretary Milagros Cristobal, and DAR 13 (Caraga) Director Merlita Capinpuyan also attended the turnover event.
Before the CLOAs were handed out, Celeste noted in her message, “DAR Secretary Estrella III often reminds us to convey the government services, especially of the DAR, to the people.”
The DAR’s mandate, according to her, continues after CLOA distribution because the organization still offers a variety of support services to the ARBs.
According to Celeste, the department will provide greater assistance “so that the ARBs will actually feel the presence of the DAR and the government.”
