In 2024, ADB will provide $19 billion in funding for projects in the Philippines.

Next year, the nation will get funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for 12 projects totaling about US$19 billion.

Eight of these projects are in Mega Manila, and five projects are in Mindanao, according to ADB Philippines Country Director Kelly Bird’s presentation at the Wednesday workshop on mapping the investment ecosystem in Taguig City.

The EDSA Greenways Project, the Angat Dam Water Transmission Improvement Project, the Metro Manila Bridges Project, the USD2.75 billion Malolos-Clark Railway Project, and the USD4.25 billion South Commuter Railway are among the ADB-funded projects in the National Capital Region and neighboring provinces that Bird listed. All of these projects are ongoing.

The USD 1 to USD 2 billion Metro Rail Transit Ortigas to Rizal Line (MRT-4), the USD 3.3 billion Laguna Lakeshore Road Transport Project, and the USD 4 billion Bataan-Cavite Bridge Project are the three projects that are waiting for clearance.

“So you can imagine all the other infrastructure projects that the government has in Metro Manila and surrounding areas will be very different from what it is today,” the speaker remarked.

The Emergency Assistance for Reconstruction and Recovery of Marawi ($100 million) and the Improving Growth Corridor in Mindanao Road Sector Project ($180 million) are two ongoing initiatives in Mindanao that are supported by the ADB.

Additionally, three projects in Mindanao are anticipated to receive approval this year. These are the USD924 million Davao Public Transport Modernization Project, the USD380 million Agus River Basin Integrated Flood Resilience and Adaptation Project, and the USD380 million Tagum River Basin Integrated Flood Resilience and Adaptation Project.
