15K employees in the hotel and tourist industries have been immunized
The Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA) member hotels and resorts are confident in their ability to welcome visitors after vaccinating their 15,000 employees against the coronavirus illness in 2019. (Covid-19).
In a statement issued last Friday, October 9, 2021, the HSMA’s vice president, Loleth So, stated that 98 percent of the employees in the 125 member properties had been vaccinated.
“I was adamant about ensuring that all of our member homes had access to the vaccination. “I made it a point to reach out to the member properties human resources departments via a dedicated chat group to ensure that I had the buy-in of the whole hotel,” So said.
The HSMA member-properties want to achieve a 100% immunization rate in the next months via collaborative relationships with local government officials, the Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Metro Manila Development Authority headed by the Metro Manila Council.
The immunization effort is part of the Department of Transportation’s “Safe Trip, Pinas” campaign, which was created with the health and safety of all Filipinos in mind.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is collaborating with hotels and resorts to adopt WHO-recommended stringent procedures and preventative steps to keep guests and staff safe while traveling.
“Vaccinating our tourism front-liners throughout the nation will be a crucial element in reopening the sector and restoring the public’s trust in travel, which will translate to greater socio-economic activities and improving our recovery prospects,” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said. “I urge both public and private organizations to embrace the Bayanihan spirit in promoting tourism worker immunization.”
As a result of more tourist front-liners being vaccinated, the Filipino travelers’ experience is now assured an additional layer of protection.
The news followed the second run of the HSMA’s September Online Sale (SOS), which, like last year, provides reduced packages offered as e-vouchers that may be used for a year from the date of purchase and may be extended upon request.
The sale, which is being held in collaboration with the Department of Transportation, the Tourism Promotions Board, Atlantis, iSentia, and Cebu Pacific Air, will run through October 15 at www.hsma.org.ph/sos.
This year’s SOS includes 80 hotels and resorts throughout the nation, with offers and discounts ranging from 30% to 70% off.
“We’ve created a month-long travel market out of a 15-day event.” We’re also adding auxiliary hotel services like restaurants, bars, banquet packages, spa, gym, and pool, as well as other hotel amenities, making this year’s campaign even more exciting and welcoming,” adds Benjie Martinez, HSMA president, and Bayleaf Hotels’ regional director of Sales and Marketing.
