MANILA, Philippines — The Land Use and Zoning Information System (LUZIS) has been connected with the housing operations of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

The LUZIS system, developed by the DHSUD, is an operational geo-information technology system for data archiving, monitoring, and modeling.

DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario said in a statement on Thursday that the system is critical to the government’s goal of promoting transparent, efficient, and data-driven housing operations.

“As we work to ensure that all Filipinos have access to decent, affordable, resilient, and sustainable housing communities, let us remember the importance of data in effective planning,” del Rosario said, noting that the web-based mapping system will provide information on land use plan formulation and implementation in the country.

DHSUD may now advocate for more improved and coordinated monitoring of its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), project developments, and homeowner’s association activities, according to del Rosario.

“Let us use data through LUZIS to realize our objective of becoming a strong institution and catalyst for the creation of inclusive human settlements.” “Let us work together to achieve an effective and efficient public service,” he urged.

The Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) is a land-use planning process that involves public authorities identifying, evaluating, and deciding on various land-use options, including long-term economic, social, and environmental objectives, as well as the implications for various communities and interest groups, and the subsequent formulation and promulgation of plans that describe the permitted or acceptable uses.
