MANILA, Philippines — The weather agency reported Friday that the low-pressure area (LPA) northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, will continue to bring precipitation to most parts of the country.

Over the Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, and Quezon, the LPA embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), a tropical cyclone was last recorded 2,270 kilometers east of Mindanao.

“By Monday, it is expected to be in PAR. We do not expect it to have a direct impact on the country, though “The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASAEzra )’s Bulquerin stated.

Due to the northeasterly surface wind flow, showers will continue to fall in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Aurora on Friday, while isolated light rains will fall in Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet.

Isolated rain showers are expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to localized thunderstorms.

Over Luzon and the Visayas, moderate to high winds and moderate to rough waves will dominate.

Over the northern Luzon seaboards, strong to gale-force winds are expected. Fishing boats and other small sea vessels have been cautioned not to enter the water, while larger sea vessels have been warned of strong waves.

Winds and seas will be moderate over Mindanao.
