The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik Light, and Janssen Covid-19 vaccines as second booster doses, according to a health official.

Myrna Cabotaje, chair of the National Vaccination Operations Center, claimed the FDA had approved an emergency use authorization for the six brands in a televised public meeting.

The center is still awaiting the Health and Technology Assessment Council’s review and final recommendations (HTAC).

“Ready na ang guidelines,” Cabotaje added. “Idadagdag lang natin ‘yung provisions ng FDA EUA saka final recommendations ng (The guidelines are ready, we’ll just add the provisions of FDA EUA and final recommendations of) HTAC.”

The delivery of the second booster shot, which was initially scheduled for April 20, will begin next week.

Prioritization will be given to healthcare workers, the elderly, and the immunocompromised.

The second booster shot, according to Cabotaje, could be administered four months after the first booster shot.

“Gagawin natin sa NCR muna, although nagre-request ang Region 3 and Region 4A na isama na sila, and then extend natin pagkatapos,” she added.

According to the NVOC, a total of 66,979,873 people have been fully vaccinated as of April 19, while 12,687,684 people have received their booster dosage.
