Over 1K jobs will be available during a job fair in Baguio on July 4th.
BAGUIO CITY, PHILIPPINES โ The local government announced on Monday that over 1,200 job openings will be available during its Independence Day employment fair on June 12th.
Doy Tabilog, executive assistant to the Mayor’s Office and head of the Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), said in an interview on Monday that at least 20 local companies and five overseas manpower agencies had registered to participate in the job fair at the Bishop Carlito Cenzon open gymnasium on the Saint Louis University compound as of Friday.
Other service providers, such as the National Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the Social Security System, will also participate in the event, he said, making it easier for applicants to obtain the necessary paperwork for their applications.
The job fair will be held in person and will feature local and international work possibilities.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the Department of Trade and Industry, according to Tabilog, will also contribute by giving services and information regarding skills and scholarships, as well as livelihood help and chances.
Interested applicants can pre-register at the People’s Park until June 11th. They can also preregister at the Baguio-Benguet Field Office of the Department of Labor and Employment, the PESO at Baguio City Hall, and the Barangay Employment Service Office on Cabinet Hill (Baguio City).
According to Tabilog, the local administration holds job and livelihood fairs on a regular basis not just to provide citizens with career options but also to keep them away from illicit activities.
“Being unemployed and without an income to cater for the necessities of one’s family is difficult,” he added. “That is why we want our people to have a source of income so that they are not tempted to engage in criminal actions that would lead to self-harm or risk to their families.”
He claims that some individuals know where to seek job openings, which is why job fairs are a fantastic way to bring government services closer to the people.
Clients can also be recommended to other agencies present at the fair for possible livelihood prospects such as upskilling or reskilling in order to increase their chances of employment or income-generating activities, according to Tabilog.
Job searchers can also rest certain that the participating companies and manpower agencies are legitimate, according to the official.
