The second dose of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine has been administered to more than 1.1 million healthcare personnel, elderly people, immunocompromised people, and people with comorbid conditions.

According to Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the officer-in-charge of the Department of Health (DOH), 71.4 million Filipinos have received the full Covid-19 vaccination as of July 19. More than 9.6 million of the total are teenagers, and 3.9 million are young children.

15.7 million people have now had their initial booster shot.

In a media briefing, Vergeire stated, “On July 26, together with our President Marcos, we will officially launch PinasLakas with the assistance of our LGUs and other partners.

During the first 100 days of the Marcos administration, the DOH intends to immunize 90% of the target senior population and boost 50% of the target population, she said.

The DOH would increase access to and availability of vaccines in markets, houses of worship, malls, transportation hubs, workplaces, factories, plazas, or schools, she added.

The DOH will make home visits to administer vaccinations and booster doses to senior individuals who are unable to visit the vaccination locations.

Despite the ongoing rise in Covid-19 infections, the nation and all of its regions continue to be considered low risk for the virus.

The National Capital Region, where 900 new cases are reported daily, experienced the greatest increase, according to Vergeire.

In the meantime, Mindanao is experiencing a persistent, sluggish trend of case escalation.
