According to the Department of Health-Regional Office 1, Candon City delivered the most initial booster shots among local government units in the Ilocos Region.

According to the Health Department’s most recent immunization report, from July 1 to October 8 of that year, 16,941 eligible people of Candon City in the province of Ilocos Sur received vaccinations as part of the enhanced PinasLakas Program, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr ran.

City Mayor Eric Singson praised the collaboration of the people on Wednesday and stated, “The accomplishment of the city is due to the unceasing efforts of our medical front liners.”

This city in Ilocos Norte, San Carlos City, Malasiqui in Pangasinan, and Narvacan in Ilocos Sur were among the Top 5 locations with the highest first booster jabs, along with Candon City.

DOH Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco urged everyone to obtain their booster injections to maintain their protection and safety against the coronavirus sickness 2019 while monitoring the immunization turnout in various sections of the region (Covid-19).

“Vaccination is the only method for us to get protected and prevent the spread of Covid,” she said, highlighting that the nation is still experiencing a pandemic; thus, it is important to follow the bare minimum of health precautions and to avoid becoming complacent.

According to the most recent immunization records, 3,753,201 people, or 86.91% of the target population, have received their two primary doses of the vaccine in the Ilocos Region. In comparison, just 61,303 people, or 1.75%, have received their first booster dose.

The DOH Region 1 hopes to immunize up to 2 million more people in the coming day’s thanks to the PinasLakas program’s increased push in schools and barangays.
