The many normalization procedures of the Bangsamoro peace process, according to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., head of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), will make the Philippines a model for other nations to follow.

Galvez said in his message delivered during the Joint Normalization Committee (JNC) meeting and assessment workshop on December 2 and published on the OPAPRU Facebook page on Sunday, “We (the Philippines) shall become the example of the world in terms of our peace process.”

He said that these processes support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration in upholding the national government’s pledges under all signed Bangsamoro peace agreements.

Galvez added that the President was able to make the Bangsamoro peace process the “centerpiece” of his administration’s effort to join the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) by 2027 thanks to the successful execution of these normalization procedures.

The Government of the Philippines (GPH) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Peace Implementing Panels are in charge of these mechanisms, according to Galvez, which “aim to transform former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants and their families into peaceful and productive individuals, as well as their areas into progressive and resilient communities.

The JNC, Joint Peace and Security Committee, Independent Decommissioning Body, Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities, Adhoc Joint Action Group, Task Force for Decommissioned Combatants and Their Families, and Joint Task Force on Camps Transformation are some of the peace mechanisms established under the normalization track of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) (JTFCT)
