At the provincial capital in Nabunturan town in Davao de Oro, construction on a PHP10 million pharmaceutical storage facility has begun, an official announced on Wednesday.

Dr. Antonio Ybiernas, the head of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), said in a statement on Wednesday that the storage building will act as a satellite office for their regular activities in the storage of medical supplies, such as medications and vaccinations, once it is finished.

“No longer will our constituents be concerned about what shots or medications they require. Here, a supply officer will be stationed, “added he.

Construction of DOH “Super Health Centers” in key province sites, which would offer specialized health services at the local level, is one of the other health initiatives that Ybiernas claimed are in line for constituents.

The outpatient department, laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound, birthing services, diagnostic, blood chemistry, and dentistry services, among other things, will all be available at each of these facilities, he claimed.

In the meantime, Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, who oversaw the pharmaceutical warehouse’s groundbreaking ceremony on December 12, committed to hastening the building’s development and completion.

The head of DOH-Davao Region, Dr. Annabelle Yumang, meanwhile stressed the significance of the storage, particularly during emergencies.

“Do you recall how many people wanted to donate during the Bagyong Pablo (Bopha, 2012), but we only had tents and no place to build one? The significance of this warehouse should not be overlooked until after another catastrophe, “She stated.

Yumang stated that the supply officers who would take care of the warehouse supplies will receive a variety of training, including the correct temperature requirements to prevent pest infection.
