Volunteers’ efforts in the anti-poverty program are acknowledged by DSWD
The agency’s primary program for reducing poverty, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services, has received recognition from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the contributions of volunteers (KALAHI-CIDSS).
The DSWD recognized and awarded volunteers and other stakeholders who actively engaged and promoted the community-driven development (CDD) approach and who had unselfishly prioritized the best interest of their communities during the ceremony for the “Bayani Parangal para sa Ugnayan: The KALAHI-CIDDS National Community Volunteers’ Congress 2022,” held on Dec. 14.
One of the highlights of the National Community Volunteer’s Congress was the awarding ceremony, which served as a forum for the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned about volunteering and community service.
DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo thanked the community volunteers for their sacrifices and dedication to fighting poverty in a message read during the ceremony.
“Attaining katuparan ang mga proyektong tutugon sa mga problem ng inyong mga pamayanan, dahil sa dedikasyon at pagpapakita ng diwa ng bayanihan ng mga community volunteers. It is the inyong nagampanan nang mahusay mula sa pagpili, pagpaplano, hanggang sa pagpapanatili ng operasyon at kaayusan nito. It is part of the KALAHI-community-driven CIDSS’s development initiative, which is described as “napapakita na buhay na buhay.” KALAHI-CIDSS volunteers, lubos ang aking pasasalamat sa bawat isa sa inyo. You were able to address the issues in your communities as a result of the commitment and bayanihan spirit displayed by each and every one of you โ the volunteers from our community. You did a good job of everything, including choice, planning, and keeping order and operations. This demonstrates how vibrant the KALAHI-CIDSS-promoted spirit of community-driven development is. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of the KALAHI-CIDSS volunteers.
KALAHI-CIDSS is a program for reducing poverty that aids communities in underdeveloped municipalities in identifying issues with poverty and carrying out CDD-based development projects.
Through the program, local residents actively participate in identifying and prioritizing the issues that affect their community and are given the opportunity to design, implement, and manage solutions to their top issues.
