PH welcomes 32K travelers for Christmas: BI
According to a report published on Sunday by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), close to 32,000 arrivals were processed on Christmas Eve.
According to a statement from BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco, immigration agents stationed at several international airports on December 24 handled a total of 31,992 arrivals.
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), which welcomed 10,047 passengers in Terminal 1, was where the majority of the international travelers came.
4,646 and 12,615 passengers arrived at Terminals 2 and 3, respectively.
On Christmas Eve, BI reported processing a total of 22,248 departures.
Due to the worldwide surge in foreign travel, Tansingco told the public that even though lineups are anticipated, travelers are handled quickly.
All of the counters are fully staffed, the egates are in use, and a special team of police is available to add more staff as needed, he said.
The use of the eTravel system, he continued, “also greatly reduces the paper requirements of arriving travelers.”
According to Tansingco, the rise in tourists is a sign that the industry is improving.
