The most eagerly awaited traditional dance competition in Ilocos Norte is scheduled to return on February 2 as one of the highlights of the province’s 205th founding anniversary.

commonly referred to as the “The “Tan-ok ni Ilokano (Greatness of the Ilocano) Festival of Festivals” brings together thousands of cultural performers and spectators at the Ferdinand E. Marcos sports stadium to celebrate the greatness of the Ilocanos through distinctive festival dances from the province’s 21 municipalities and two cities.

“The mother of all festivals is returning to the province for the first time since the start of the pandemic, and this is the biggest attempt yet to raise the bar in cultural performances in the province, boosting the Ilocano sense of pride, unity, and greatness, said provincial tourism officer Ianree Raquel on Tuesday.

The event is now in full flow as of this publication.

The major cultural showdown is open to those who want to learn more about and engage with the rich local culture. Additionally, the event provides a way for unpaid workers including designers, make-up artists, production personnel, and event planners to gain extra money.

Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc earlier stated, “We believe that by investing more in our people, we not only secure a better quality of life for Ilokano families but also embrace additional chances for development.”
