The Department of Health (DOH) said Monday that the daily average of new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) fell by 9% from January 2 to January 8.

Infections decreased from 497 per day between December 26, 2022, and January 1, 2023, to 447 in the most recent week.

3,127 new cases and 79 confirmed deaths were listed in the most recent case bulletin.

The DOH reported that 27 of the additional deaths took place between December 26, 2022, and January 8, 2023.

More than 4.07 million coronavirus cases and more than 65,476 fatalities have been reported in the nation thus far.

The number of severe and critical infections increased by seven instances over the same seven days, bringing the total up to 507 from 433 the week before.

Only 431 of the 2,379 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are being used, or 18.1%, whereas 4,185 of the 19,373 non-ICU beds are being used, or 26.1%.

As of January 8, 73,791,107 people, or 94.48 percent of the country’s target population (78,100,578), have received the Covid-19 vaccination, including 79.46 percent of 8,721,357 seniors.

Out of the population that has had all recommended vaccinations, 21,194,144 have received booster doses.
