According to the International Air Transport Association, worldwide air traffic recovered further in November 2022, reaching 75.3% of its pre-pandemic level (IATA).

According to IATA data, revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, which measure air travel, increased 41.3 percent in November over the same month last year.

Willie Walsh, the director general of IATA, stated in a statement on Monday that “traffic numbers in November reaffirm that customers are completely enjoying the freedom to travel.”

According to IATA, international traffic increased 85.2 percent compared to November 2021, with RPKs reaching 73.7 percent of the amount in November 2019.

All regions had growth compared to the prior year, but Asia-Pacific experienced the largest increase—373.9 percent—in November.

“Travel restrictions in China continued to have a negative impact on the overall outcome, despite domestic traffic increasing by 3.4% in November 2022 compared to November 2021. The research stated that domestic travel in November 2022 was 77.7% of what it was in November 2019.

According to separate IATA data, the demand for air freight in November decreased 13.7% annually as measured in cargo ton-kilometers.

For the second consecutive month, capacity decreased by 1.9 percent from the prior year.
