Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairperson George Garcia reaffirmed his appeal for qualified voters to register for the October 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections with only four days remaining before the registration period’s end (BSKE).

“To those who haven’t signed up yet: You still have a few days. Please sign up. Those that register will find that it is a quick process. We’ve got your back, the head of the election body said to reporters on Friday.

He also emphasized that it is unlikely that the Jan. 31 deadline will be extended.

However, Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco stated that since the application process began in December 2022, they had received over a million applications.

“Our registration website attracted almost 1.5 million visitors. As of January 21, there are one million new registrants, he stated.

The youth elections are open to registered Filipino voters aged 15 to 17, the barangay elections are open to voters aged 18 to 30, and the barangay elections are open to voters aged 31 and over.

The Register Anywhere Project (RAP) facilities in malls, universities, and government offices had received 1,528,480 applications, according to the most recent data available from the polling organization.

In addition to collecting applications for new voter registration, the election body also accepts applications for registration transfers, transfers with reactivations, and reactivations, among other things.

On December 12, 2022, the registration session for voters began.
