The national government commits to working with stakeholders to put the nation’s medium-term economic plan into action.

The first Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028 Forum was conducted on Monday at the Philippines International Convention Center in Pasay City, together with other government organizations.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received the PDP 2023–2028 during the event from NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan.

“This PDP forum is a symbol of the Marcos Administration’s commitment to a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach for attaining long-term inclusive development,” Balisacan said. “This PDP forum is the first in a series of stakeholder dialogues and roadshows on the Plan.

He declared that in order to launch the medium-term plan, the national government will aggressively collaborate with the corporate sector, academia, development partners, and the media.

“Stakeholder ownership is crucial in the execution of the Plan to ensure that our efforts remain coordinated and united toward realizing shared ambitions,” he continued.

Alfredo Pascual, secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), emphasized the importance of the nation pushing for industrialization as the PDP aims to combat poverty by creating high-quality jobs.

The combination of industrial development, commerce, and investments, according to Pascual, is one of the agency’s measures for assisting the PDP goals.

Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Raphael Lotilla stated that the organization is tackling the “stumbling hurdles” in attracting investments in the energy industry because a developing economy would result in a higher need for electricity.

He further stated that the DOE is changing the regulations that prevent these investments.
