For the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Taguig City residents may anticipate a happier and more romantic Valentine’s Day.

On Monday night, the “Love at the Park” display at the TLC Village in Barangay Lower Bicutan was officially opened by representatives of the city government, including Mayor Lani Cayetano. The display uses approximately 1 million energy-efficient light bulbs to create a romantic atmosphere for couples, families, and friends.

Free illuminated large love art works are available for visitors to enjoy, including the Wall of Roses, a heart tunnel, and a sea of pink and scarlet dandelions, among others.

Other attractions in the park include the Aqua Luna Lighting and Sounds Show, which pairs magnificent music with spectacular lights.

The Interactive Art Murals are ideal locations for that Instagram-worthy image, and couples may take a stroll down the cherry blossom-lined Path of Flowers for a romantic date.

When wandering along the boardwalks beside the floating nipa huts (kubo) at Mercado del Lago, date nights with loved ones become even more romantic.

In a press conference, Cayetano stated that parkgoers can take advantage of the Valentine’s Day atmosphere without paying.

“Ma-enjoy yung inihanda nating mga palamuti dito na kung pupunta sila sa mga amusement parks kailangan pa nila magbayad hindi ba kaya naman yan yung ating naging inspirasyon bukod pa sa gusto natin i-celebrate ng pagmamahal Apart from the fact that we want to celebrate God’s love, our love for the family, and our love for our fellow Filipinos because Taguig’s tagline is “I Love Taguig,” this is what inspires us “Added she.

In honor of February being National Arts Month, the mayor added that they would transform the area into an arts hotspot.

We will invite artists from outside Taguig as well as within the city so that we may highlight and appreciate the splendor of Philippine art, she added.

She continued by saying that safety precautions for tourists are in place with regard to health.

“Of course, our processes are being pinapanatili. As of right now, wearing a mask when outside is mandated by health officials, but there is no indication that this will prevent you from getting sick. As a result, kaya naman naiikot at kumportableng may mask pa rin sila (Of course, we maintain our health procedures notwithstanding the order from our health officials that people can now walk outside without any face masks, but we are not stating that they cannot take any measures. And it’s best if they feel at ease wearing masks when out and about “Added she.

Cayetano added that as an additional measure of safety, they periodically sanitize the area.

“The beauty of our park is that it is open air, and we know that when the venue is open air, it is more safer for individuals who would be visiting our park,” she continued. “Kapag open air medyo mas safe yan para sa mga dadayo dito sa ating park.”

The TLC Village had a Christmas village motif when it first debuted in late November of last year.

From Tuesday through February 26 the park will be accessible to the general public from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
