There will be an order from the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) distributing 100,000 spaces for applications for transport network vehicle service (TNVS) around the country.

At the Saturday News Forum at the Dapo Restaurant in Quezon City, Engr. Riza Paches of the LTFRB stated, “The board would release a memorandum circular explaining the distribution,” but she did not provide a date.

Nevertheless, she continued, “the board is currently thinking about how this is going to be implemented operationally through its divisions within the LTFRB.

The LTFRB board member remarked that adding more spaces will help with the public transportation issue as well as create jobs.

“The main goal, as stated by the chair, is basically attempting to assist in the development of jobs, as well as addressing the absence of public transportation, particularly those that are connected to certain sites like airports and other business-intensive areas in the country,” she said.

The LTFRB previously announced that the spaces would be made available to motorbikes and four-wheeled motor vehicles.

Paches added that they are investigating ways to shorten the application process and encourage compliance for people who want to apply for or use LTFRB services.

We have currently assessed the regulatory impact of the prior initiatives we’ve implemented. Since the pandemic, public transportation has seen a significant shift. In addition to demand changes, our riders’ behavior and commuting preferences have also altered, she added. As a result, we are currently modifying our internal norms of the procedure.

So, Paches continued, “These are the adjustments being done with the existing board in the LTFRB at this time.
